Chlorine: Silicates
Intended Learning Objectives
1. Prepare and spike dissolved rock samples for chlorine-36 analysis by accurately weighing samples, recording essential data, and adding hydrofluoric and nitric acid for complete dissolution.
2. Monitor and manage sample dissolution by regularly checking shaker table progress, adding additional acid as needed, and ensuring full sample breakdown.
3. Remove fluorides and undissolved residues through centrifugation, careful separation of the supernatant, and rinsing precipitates to prepare for silver nitrate addition.
