Chlorine: Carbonates
Intended Learning Objectives
1. Perform controlled nitric acid dissolution by carefully adding acid to columns, ensuring a slow reaction, and achieving full sample dissolution while monitoring blank consistency.
2. Separate and process sediment from the supernatant by carefully decanting solutions into centrifuge tubes, minimizing disturbance, and accurately weighing sediment residues for further analysis.
3. Extract and prepare ICP-OES aliquots by taking a portion of the parent solution, properly diluting it, and ensuring accurate measurement of major and trace elements for final calculations.
