Shielding Data
Intended Learning Outcomes:
1. Explain the concept of the shielding factor and its role in cosmogenic nuclide production rate calculations for exposure dating and erosion rate determination.
2. Demonstrate how to measure and record shielding-related parameters in the field, including dip and strike of the sampled surface and azimuth and elevation angles to topographic obstructions.
3. Apply shielding factor corrections using online calculators to adjust production rate estimates for different sample site conditions.
